Screen size is not chosen by how impressive it looks in a shop, but by how far away you sit. As a rough guide, a comfortable distance for a 4K set is about 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal:

• 32 inches — kitchen, small bedroom or study, from roughly 1.2–2 metres.
• 43 inches — the most balanced choice for an ordinary flat's living room, from about 1.6–2.7 metres. It is also the size with the most models in the catalogue.
• 50–55 inches — a spacious living room, from roughly 2–3.5 metres.
• 65 inches — a large room or a house, from about 2.5–4 metres.

If you are torn between two sizes and the distance allows it, take the larger one: the feeling that it is too big passes within days, the feeling that it is too small does not.

Resolution, panel and refresh rate

Resolution. At 32 inches, Full HD is enough from a normal viewing distance. From 43 inches upwards 4K starts to show, particularly on streaming content.

Panel. Most televisions in this price range use backlit LED panels. The label on the box matters less than how the picture looks in your room: if the screen faces a window, brightness matters more than contrast.

Refresh rate. 60 Hz covers films and broadcast television. 120 Hz shows on fast sport and current-generation consoles; if neither applies to you, the difference is not worth paying for.

Three myths about televisions

"A Smart TV only needs internet during setup." No. Streaming apps and internet television use data every time you watch, and picture quality depends directly on connection speed. A Smart TV without a stable connection is an ordinary television.

"All Smart TVs have the same apps." No. The apps available depend on the television's operating system, not on its price or brand. Before buying, check the specifications for which system the model runs and whether the apps you use daily are available on it.

"A 4K television makes every picture 4K." No. The final resolution cannot exceed the resolution of the source. A channel broadcast in standard definition stays standard definition on a 4K set — the television only scales it up. What genuinely improves is content filmed in 4K.

Subscription price, standard price and instalments

Every television shows two prices: the standard one and the subscription price, the latter available together with a Moldtelecom service. The gap can reach several hundred lei.

Any television can be paid off in monthly instalments over 24 months. On most models the 24 payments add up to exactly the listed price; on a few there is a small difference, so check the instalment shown on the product page and multiply it by 24 to see the exact total.

How much does delivery of a television cost?

Delivery is free anywhere in Moldova, large televisions included, and takes between 1 and 4 working days. There is no surcharge for size.

Can I return a television that does not suit?

What warranty do the televisions carry?

Every television is new and comes with the manufacturer's official warranty. Because the purchase is made from the operator, service and complaints go through the same Moldtelecom shop network where you pay your subscription.
