The Xiaomi Smart Plug 2 (Wi-Fi) in White is a Schuko-type smart plug that sits between the wall socket and an ordinary appliance. Once you add it to the Xiaomi Home app, you switch the appliance on and off from your phone, set a schedule and see how much power it draws. It connects straight to your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Up to 3680 W and 16 A

The plug runs on 220–240 V, 50 Hz, and carries up to 16 A. Maximum power is 3680 W for resistive loads, meaning appliances that turn current into light or heat, such as lamps and fan heaters. The plug and socket are Type F (Schuko), with earth contacts.

Phone and voice control

In Xiaomi Home you switch the connected appliance on or off from anywhere, as long as your phone is online. Turn on a light at home when you are running late, or check whether something was left on. The plug also takes commands through Google Assistant on compatible devices.

Schedules and countdown

Set fixed on and off times, for example for a humidifier or a kettle, so they are not left running after you go out. A countdown starts right on the plug with a double press of the button, and you pick its length in the app. It keeps working without internet, but stops if the power goes out.

Energy use in plain view

The app shows real-time energy use and detailed statistics, so you can see which appliance uses the most and how much you save by switching it off.

Protection and power-cut memory

Built-in sensors watch for overcurrent and overheating. When the current reaches 15–19 A you get a notification, and if it lasts longer than 15 seconds the plug cuts the power; from 19 A it cuts it at once. The housing is made of a flame-retardant material that passed a 750 °C glow-wire test. After a power cut, the plug returns by itself to its previous on or off state.

Compact and easy to set up

It measures 74 x 52 x 76.6 mm and weighs about 110 g, so it takes little room on a double socket or an extension lead. It has 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.0 and works at 0–35 °C. Setup takes three steps: plug it in, wait for the orange light to blink and add it in Xiaomi Home. When the light turns blue, it is ready.
